MARCH 2017
A wonderful visit from M Roch Carrier

On Friday, March 3, M Roch Carrier came and visited us and our school.  He met with our primary students in the library and treated them to a reading of his wonderful book, The Hockey Sweater, in both French and English. It was a delight for all. We love M Roch Carrier’s visits and look forward to welcoming him back again soon!

A fond farewell to Mr. McCallum (and his hair)

Also on Friday, March 3, we said goodbye to Mr. McCallum.  As part of our Education Foundation fundraiser, our Me-to-We team had a “Guess the Jelly Beans in the Jar” fundraiser, and as his gift to us, Mr. McCallum included the right to cut his hair to the student with the closest guess.  So on Friday afternoon we had an assembly and watched Mr. McCallum get his hair cut. Even Mme. Bercy joined in the fun!
The Roch Carrier/Glen Cairn curling team

The New Holland (Timbits) Provincial School Curling Championship was held between March 23rd and March 26th in Chesley Ontario. This was a great experience for a local team to represent Roch Carrier Elementary School and Glen Cairn Middle School.
The team included one of our students, Ferris (Lead), and three of our graduates, Marlon (Second), Michael (Vice) and Fraser (Skip).
Over the 3 days team Roch Carrier/Glen Cairn had the opportunity to play on arena ice and they met some powerful teams. Winning 2 of their 4 games meant that they placed about halfway in the standings of the 76 teams!
They are already looking forward to 2018 in Carleton Place!
